About the event
This is one of our most popular events. The children will have a great time learning to use their choice of sai, nunchaku, jo, kama or tonfa - the weapons used are 'kids safe' using foam, rubber and plastic rather then metal and wood.
This event is suitable for younger children, 8 years and under. If your child is older, but you think may enjoy this event more than the main weapons seminar please speak to your instructor and take their advice on suitability.
They will be assessed and awarded a new grade with certficate at the end of the sesson too (please see note below re belts)!
The fee for the event is £15, payable in advance when registered.
We have a selection of weapons to borrow if it is their first time with that weapon (first come first served, reserved on request when payment is made). If they have already done a session then please speak to your instructor to order a weapon of your own or visit the online shop.
To book please complete the RSVP form, speak to your instructor or send an email and pay the fee to our ususal account - please include which weapon you wish your child to train with and if it is their first go then whether or not you need to borrow a weapon. We will reserve loan-weapons on a first come first served basis and recommend and alternative weapon if we do not have your first choice available. The early-bird catches the worm!
Only proper training weapons manufactured by a Martial Arts supplier can be used. Weapons purchased that are toys, fancy dress accessories or intended to be ornamental will not be permitted.
- Students that have achieved a grade in the weapon they are training in must wear the belt associated with it, not their Karate or Taekwon-Do grade if different. If your child has been awarded the same grade in the past in Karate or Taekwon-Do then you should have the belt, if not we will provide a belt at the start of the session for them to wear. We do not award belts at the end of the sesison as most students have them already from Karate/Taekwon-Do.
- This event is not suitable for kickboxers. If your child is interested in learning the broader martial arts then we recommend booking a free Karate or Taekwon-Do class to see if they enjoy it.
