About the event

This is one of our most popular events! Train in your choice of Sai, Nunchaku, Tonfa, Jo or Kama learning to apply your Karate or Taekwon-Do with the extra challenge and excitment of these weapons. It creates a new dimension to your training and will help further your undertsanding of the techniques you already know. It is also great fun!

You can borrow a weapon if it is your first session with that weapon (subject to availability, first come/first served reserved when payment is made) after which you must have your own. These are available to order through your instructor or the online shop.

If you are elligible you will also be graded in the weapon and awarded a new grade and certficate in the applied weapon,

see the notes below on this.

  • Seminar and grading: £35
  • Seminar only: £25
  • Payable in advance, when registered.

To register please complete the RSVP form, speak with your instructor or send us an email including your choice of weapon and whether you wish to borrow one and pay the associated fee to our usual bank account.

Please read all the notes below and if in any doubt speak to us in class or by email.

Notes:

  • Open to ages 8 and over (some children 8-9 may find the kids-safe seminar more fun, please discuss with your instructor).
  • To grade in a weapon you must have achieved the minimum associated grade in Taekwon-Do or Karate - see the table below and if in doubt check with your instructor.
  • You must wear the belt you have in the weapon on the day, do not wear your Karate or Taekwon-Do belt if it is different.
  • Please note that students passing a grading are not issued a belt (you will receive a lovely certificate and the grade validated in your licence books) but as the vast majority of studnets will already have the same belt at home from either Karate or Taekwon-Do we feel it is wasteful to issue duplicates.
  • If you do not have the required belt at the start of the seminar (some weapons belts are not present in the Taekwon-Do belt system for example) then we will provide one to wear on the day so do not worry.
  • Weapons MUST be Martial Arts training weapons. Weapons intended for ornamental display, toys, fancy dress or weapons simply not up to the job will not be allowed to be used. Weapons purchased through a reputable supplier can be used but we reserve the right to test any weapon not purchsed through us. If in doubt speak to your instructor.
  • The event is not open to kickboxers as a background in martial arts techniques and patterns/kata is needed, if you are a kickboxer and interested in learning the wider martial arts then why not book a free trial of Taekwon-Do or Karate?

  • To test for Red in a weapon you must be at least Red in karate or White/Red in Taekwon-Do
  • To test for Yellow in a weapon must be at least Orange in Karate or Yellow in Taekwon-Do
  • To test for Green in a weapon must be at least Blue in Karate or Green in Taekwon-Do
